Itinerary

Experience the ultimate Himalayan crossover with this 4-night, 5-day Hampta Pass trekking package starting from Delhi. This trek is ideal for both beginners and adventure lovers, offering a blend of lush green valleys, dramatic mountain passes, glacial streams, and barren Lahaul-Spiti landscapes—all in one epic journey. Get ready to escape into Himachal’s high-altitude paradise and sleep under a blanket of stars beside gushing rivers and snow-clad peaks.

Day 1: Delhi to Manali – Overnight Journey to the Mountains

Your journey begins from Delhi in the evening as you board a Volvo or private vehicle to Manali (approx. 570 km / 12-13 hours). Enjoy the overnight ride through the plains of Punjab into the foothills of Himachal Pradesh. Catch glimpses of winding mountain roads and river valleys as you move closer to the adventure capital of North India. This night is spent traveling.

Day 2: Manali Arrival – Drive to Jobri – Trek to Chika Campsite (10,100 ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Packed Lunch, and Dinner
Upon early morning arrival in Manali, freshen up and enjoy a hot breakfast. Soon after, drive to Jobri (approx. 1 hour) – the starting point of your trek. From here, begin a 2-3 hour trek through dense pine forests, wildflowers, and rocky trails that lead you to the lush meadows of Chika. The first day of trekking is relatively easy and gives you a gentle taste of what’s ahead. Set up camp at Chika beside a stunning stream and spend the evening amidst the tranquil mountains.

Day 3: Trek from Chika to Balu Ka Ghera (11,900 ft)

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Wake up to the refreshing mountain air and begin your second day of trekking toward Balu Ka Ghera, which means ‘bed of sand.’ This stretch takes around 5-6 hours and passes through stunning boulder fields, waterfalls, and vibrant alpine flora. The trail climbs gradually and offers stunning views of snow-capped peaks and sheep grazing along the river. Balu Ka Ghera serves as the base for your upcoming Hampta Pass crossing. Overnight camping here under a sky full of stars is an unforgettable experience.

Day 4: Trek to Hampta Pass (14,100 ft) – Descend to Shea Goru

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner
Today is the most thrilling part of the trek and also the longest. Start early for a 6-8 hour trek as you ascend toward the Hampta Pass. The climb is steep and rewarding, with breathtaking panoramic views from the top—snowfields, jagged ridgelines, and clouds brushing your face. After some time spent at the pass, descend into a completely different terrain as you enter the arid, stark, and dramatic Spiti Valley side. The contrast in landscape is awe-inspiring. Trek down to Shea Goru, a beautiful campsite surrounded by barren hills and streams. Rest overnight in tents, warmed by tales of your conquest.

Day 5: Trek to Chhatru – Drive to Manali – Departure to Delhi

Meals: Breakfast and Packed Lunch
Begin your final day with a gentle descent to Chhatru, the meeting point of Hampta Pass trekkers and road travelers of Spiti. This trail is shorter but filled with scree and glacial crossings, keeping the adventure alive. On reaching Chhatru, take a break beside the Chandra River and if time permits, visit the nearby Chandratal Lake (optional, weather permitting and with prior arrangement). From here, drive back to Manali. After reaching Manali by evening, freshen up and depart for Delhi by overnight Volvo, wrapping up your high-altitude journey filled with memories.
